We’re proud to share that Machinery Solutions Group has been awarded a major controls modernization project involving a Heidelberg Universal Perfect Binder & Gatherer model UB2 M3000 paired with a Kolbus three-knife trimmer — a critical line in high-volume finishing operations.
This upgrade continues our mission to help customers extend the life and reliability of their core equipment through smart, sustainable control system overhauls.
🔧 Project Objective
The goal is to implement a methodical, low-risk controls upgrade that delivers long-term supportability and platform consistency — while minimizing downtime.
This system, originally running on aging and partially proprietary hardware, will be updated with a modern Siemens-based architecture that integrates all major components under a unified platform.
🔍 Project Scope Includes:
- Full control system modernization across the Binder, Gatherer, and Trimmer
- Transition from GE and Beckhoff I/O to Siemens Profinet and ET200SP nodes
- Consolidation of PLCs into a centralized Siemens platform
- Operator interface overhaul using Comfort Panel touchscreens
- Select motion component updates, while retaining and supporting reusable hardware
💡 Why It Matters
This line upgrade aligns with the customer’s broader modernization efforts — reinforcing standardization across their production fleet. It also ensures long-term availability of parts, better diagnostic tools, and future flexibility.
We’re proud to support another high-impact controls project for a trusted industry partner.
